  • (c) Gas pipeline from Hazira in Gujarat to Jagdishpur in Uttar Pradesh – This gas pipeline passes through Bijapur in Madhya Pradesh. Its branches Kota (Rajasthan) Shahjahanpur and Uttar Basin are also pipeline linked with that. Apart from these, there are two more pipelines that run between Mumbai High and Mumbai and between Mumbai and Pune. There are proposals to lay pipelines from Kandla and Panipat, Kandla and Bina, Mumbai to Manmad, Visakhapatnam to Vijayawada, and Mangalore to Chennai via Bangalore.

5. Why is water transport cheaper than road transport? Give two reasons.
